Unfortunately, the European Union has sought to monopolize generic terms like “parmesan,” “bologna” and “chateau” as a means of shutting competition out of growing export destinations. The Safeguarding American Value-Added Exports (SAVE) Act would direct the U.S. government to take measures to preserve international market access that supports dairy, meat and wine producers’ bottom line.
